Pastor
Pastor Lars Hammar has been the Pastor at Lord of Grace since January 2010. A native of Hibbing, Minnesota, he graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1995 with a major in Classics. Pastor Lars attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1999, including a year at the Washington Theological Consortium in Washington DC, studying at the Catholic University of America and serving as an intern in the House of Representatives, in addition to doing inner-city tutoring. Having done field work in Boston, New Jersey and Maryland, Pastor Lars comes to Lord of Grace having served calls to St. Philip Lutheran Church in Glenview, Illinois, and, most recently, as Pastor of Young Adults and Community Outreach at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Tucson.
In addition to normal parish work, Pastor Lars is on the advisory team for mission development for the Grand Canyon Synod, and serves as adjunct faculty in religion at Pima Community College.
Pastor Lars lives in Tucson with his wife Kristie and four children and enjoys desert hiking, a good theology or philosophy book, photography, and his garden full of citrus trees.
