FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE

Luke 24:13-35

Tells us that two of Jesus’ followers walking to Emmaus were mourning his death and discussing rumors that he was alive. A stranger joined them on their walk, asking about their sadness and encouraging them with words from their written tradition. Together they shared a meal. “When [the stranger] was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.” The followers returned to Jerusalem, declared that “’The Lord is risen indeed’” and “told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.”

WHAT DOES THE FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE DO?

By working with the Council and the Ministries, we ensure that opportunities for fellowship are planned so that people can get to know each other better and feel more connected to the community that is our church. While the committee does plan and staff some events, our primary goal is to support other groups in the church as they include fun, food, and friendship in events for the congregation. We do keep the kitchen stocked and clean and, with other committees, welcome visitors and newcomers into the life of the congregation.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SERVING ON THE FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE?
“I truly believe that in the breaking of bread and the sharing of experiences we become community.” – Len
