Vacation Bible School
VBS 2010 was centered on prayer. We wrote our own program and called it Prayer, Praise and Play. During the week the children learned different mealtime prayers, most that one of our leaders had learned at Church Camp. We also learned the Lord’s Prayer in Sign Language. Each day was spent on a different aspect of prayer; when to pray, why to pray, how to pray, where to pray. We used Bible stories to support these lessons. We also had crafts, games, and snacks that blended in with the lessons. The children painted three wooden benches that are placed on our prayer walk at the church. Each child also made a stepping stone and had the opportunity to place it along the walk way.
Our outreach this year was the Marana Food Bank and we overflowed the shopping card with donations from the students. Each child got a Prayer, Praise, and Play T-shirt and also a prayer shawl which went along with a lesson.
Several songs were learned during the musical opening and closings and the children sang them at the 10:45 service and we all enjoyed a luncheon after the service.
Our thanks goes to all who donated time, energy, supplies and prayers to help make this year successful.
Plans are being discussed for next years VBS program. Anyone who is interested in helping please contact Laurie O’Brien, our education representative.
