Blessed be God,
because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me. Psalm 66:20
This scripture was chosen by an author for the Advent Devotional I revisited this past Season. The writer made me sit up and pay attention as he noted God gave us the “freedom to pray”. So true! We have a free will to turn to God in our praise and concerns. The author tells me because we are baptized this affirms we are children God. When we pray to Jesus, we are invited in the family. Our Father, our Lord’s father and mine, listens to us.
My immediate response to reading this verse from Psalm 66 is “Yes, God the Father did not reject my prayer”.
If I look at my life through a 20/20 perspective: looking back at my prayers over the years and the answers received, did all my requests get answered? Not right away! Some of my concerns in prayers were remedied later, over time. I think some prayers were answered, in God’s time. It is very humbling to realize He was listening. Comes to mind...”Do not be troubled”. Have faith. Keep praying! Our God listens to our prayers.
Father God, thank you for your steadfast love that you listen to my prayers.
The Lord of Grace Prayer Team is always here to help you with any prayer requests you may have! The Prayer Team continues to pray over all prayer petitions sent our way, including the requests entered in the prayer journal in the Narthex. The Team will also continue to offer individual prayer times after each worship service on the 4th Sunday of each month.
Peace be with you,
Candy Borstad
