Our Mission and Purpose

…to make Christ known through Christian outreach to nurture our community, family, and personal relationship with God through living examples. Specifically, we strive to provide support and aid to those within and beyond our community, working to involve the church membership at large.

Some of our outreach ministries include:

In-Reach

Assisting members and friends of Lord of Grace with meals or other small services when faced with an illness, hospital stay, new baby at home, etc. 

Prayer Chain – Matthew 21:22 “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Marana Food Bank

Year-long food drive benefiting the Marana Food Bank – Donations accepted any time during church office hours, or services on Sundays. Please leave donations in the cabinets in the hall outside the Fellowship Hall or in the box outside. Monthly needs are published in the Lord of Grace newsletter, see https://lordofgrace.org/newsletter.

Feed My Starving Children

Volunteer in February to help pack food boxes for Feed My Starving Children, that are sent to starving children throughout the world.

Lutheran World Relief – Baby Care Kits

Collect baby clothes for Lutheran World Relief’s Baby Care Kits. In 2023, baby care kits were provided to families in Angola, Dominican Republic, Mali, Tanzania, and Turkey.

Celebration and volunteer appreciation potluck for all those assisting in a project over the service weekend.

God’s Work Our Hands

God’s Work Our Hands is an Annual Service day with ELCA, that include service projects conducted throughout the weekend of September 11th.

Projects include hygiene kits for the homeless, working with the Marana Food Bank https://mfb-crc.org and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Sister Jose Women’s Center, https://www.srjosewomensshelter.org/.

Roadrunner Elementary School Partnership

Partnership with Roadrunner Elementary School, a Title I elementary school (receive additional funding for educating disadvantaged or underserved children) in the Marana School District. All Roadrunner scholars are preparing to be college bound.

Roadrunner Elementary - Backpack and School Supply Drive

Backpacks and school supplies are collected as part of Roadrunner Elementary’s Backpack and School Supply Drive to help collect essential and urgently needed items for vulnerable students that attend Roadrunner.

Roadrunner Elementary - Thanksgiving Food Boxes

Collect food and gift cards for Thanksgiving and Pantry food boxes for families of students attending Roadrunner Elementary and for other identified families.

Roadrunner Elementary – Adopt a Family

Collect gifts for families/children in need from Roadrunner Elementary during the Christmas season.

Butler’s Pantry

Clothing and Food Bank located at Roadrunner Elementary School and open to the community. Lord of Grace holds two work days and staffs Butler’s Pantry twice a month. Donations come from other schools, teachers and parents at Roadrunner, and drives by Lord of Grace.

Sister José Women’s Center

Sister José Women’s Center, a Tucson-based nonprofit, exists to aid and transform the lives of women who are unhoused. Two programs are offered -- Overnight Program provides 42 beds where women can safely sleep, three meals, showers, and a place to do laundry; Day Program provides guests with breakfast and lunch, showers, clothing, and a place to do laundry. Both provide women with case management to help them access a variety of services. Lord of Grace prepares three suppers for the women throughout the year.

Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest

Lord of Grace is a member of the Congregational Connections group of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, a social service agency serving Pima, Maricopa, Cochise, and Santa Cruz counties and is affiliated with the Evangelical Church of America and recognized by the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. They stabilize people during crisis and transition, build a foundation where people can thrive, and preserve dignity and respect for the most vulnerable.

Interfaith Community Services

Lord of Grace is a member congregation of Interfaith Community Services – a nonprofit, social services agency serving Pima County, Arizona, including metropolitan Tucson. With support from diverse faith partners, compassionate volunteers and hundreds of community friends, ICS fills critical gaps in human services. We help those less fortunate meet basic living requirements.
